## Installation
For an automatic installation through WordPress:
1. Go to the ‘Add New’ plugins screen in your WordPress admin area.
2. Search for ‘Freshchat’ plugin.
3. Click ‘Install Now’ and activate the plugin.
4. Select Freshchat and choose Freshchat is Enabled option
5. Add the Freshchat widget code by logging in to your Freshchat account and copying
the widget code from the [Web Messenger Settings here](https://web.freshchat.com/settings/widget)
6. Hit Save Changes

Manual Installation:
1. Download the latest version of ‘Freshchat’ plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
2. Extract the zip and Upload the freshchat directory to your /wp-content/plugins
directory
3. Go to the plugins management page and activate the plugin
4. You now have a new admin menu ‘Freshchat’ in your WordPress admin menu bar. Click
on it and Configure your settings as mentioned in the info comments in the screen.
5. Select Freshchat and choose Freshchat is Enabled option
6. Add the Freshchat widget code by logging in to your Freshchat account and copying
the widget code from the [Web Messenger Settings here](https://web.freshchat.com/settings/widget)
7. Hit Save Changes

The plugin is severely out of date, yet the company claims to be integrated with
Wordpress.

Same problem as a previous user, I have a persistent error showing in the DevTools
console that hasn’t been resolved using the latest version of the plugin (2.3.0).
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property ‘externalId’ of undefined Same issue on
a clean WP install so it doesn’t look like like a conflict with another plugin.

It took me some time to set it up, due to copy/paste quotation marks issues. Make
sure you lose single quotation at the beginning of the code (self-explanatory) and
change English paired quotation marks to neutral quotation marks (U+0022). Hope
it helps.

Can you please briefly explain how to set up this plugin in WordPress. I followed
the steps as you mentioned but it’s not working.
